A Musical Cellobration

Cellist and teacher Danielle Merlis created "The Cello Camp" to share her passion for playing the cello with young musicians. Participants will improve their cello technique and music reading skills, and they will also experience a unique cello ensemble that will combine classical training with a contemporary approach. The 2024 program will run August 19th-August 24th from 10am-3pm daily except for Saturday (1-5pm), with a typical day including group lessons, ensemble rehearsals, music skill building activities and a one hour lunch break. The final day will feature a Saturday evening concert at 5pm performed for family and friends, and will include guest performers who will collaborate with the young cellists in a spirited program that is not to be missed!

The program is open to all beginner and intermediate level cellists entering grades 4-12.

New this year: The Honors Section at The Cello Camp! You must be in high school to participate. The program will take place at the same time as cello camp and activities may overlap. This is aimed for the cellist who is intermediate-advanced who is looking to be more challenged! If you’re interested in joining this group, reach out to Danielle at danielle@thecellocamp.com to see if it’s right for you.

Our 2024 location will be The Saugatuck Congregational Church, 245 Post Road East in Westport, CT.
